Help Aji

My friend Nikki has a cute little bunny who has been very sick. The vet bill is very expensive, and Nikki does not have a lot of money. If you can, please help out. Don’t think of it as helping Nikki pay a bill, because that’s not what it is. It’s helping save the life of a wonderful animal who loves, and is loved. Help Aji. //edit: I should probably point out that Nikki isn’t asking for money; she’s having a yard sale.

Check Out My Box

This came in the mail today from Maisonneuve: The hand-crafted wooden box contained: Issues 3-6 of the magazine (plus the current issue, because it was late) A one year subscription to the magazine Exposed Roots, a Canadian Aboriginal/World music 2 CD compilation (which is better than I thought it would be) An 18″x24″ wall poster A pencil and notepad All for just a touch more than a regular subscription. I am very pleased.

Work in Progress

Well, it’s that time of year again, the time when I tinker with the website and screw up all the links. This time I’m not doing it because I’m bored, I’m doing it to spruce it up so I can get a job (plus I just migrated to a new host). For whatever reason, my old entries did not import properly, and so I must now add them by hand. This gives me the opportunity to fix any particularly gross errors in my spelling and grammar, as well as spot any gross errors in my CSS, but it is damned tedious business. When I resume operations tomorrow (or later today, I suppose), this post will have vanished, and something else will be in its place. Also, all of the links in the menu work, but if you follow them, none of them will bring you back here just yet.

The Linking Fiasco

Could people new to the Internet please stop telling us shit we already know? I mean, good lord, courtesy links are nothing new, and they aren’t a requirement. To get upset about them is just plain childish. Welcome to the Internet. Despite what AOL might have told you, it’s not a very friendly place. In fact, the best communities around are often openly hostile. Get used to it.

Book Blogs and Other Wastes of Time

I’m hoping you folks can help me out. Recently I’ve been reading a number of blogs like Bookslut and The Elegant Variation. These are wondefully well-read and well-written, and I was hoping that you, my readers, might be able to point me in the direction of more. Perhaps from Canada? Canadian literature (and literary discussion) seems in such a sombre state lately (Mr. Barnes, Mr. Winter, this means you!) that I’m hoping to find something fun.
